Where can I find your work?

Did you study art in school?

Yes, but not the way you’d expect. I earned a B.A. in Theatre (design emphasis) with a minor in Studio Art from Bethel University, in St. Paul MN. Yep, I was a Theatre Major and LOVED IT!

What do you use to draw/paint/design with?

Depends. Lately I’ve been doing my work in Illustrator CC and Photoshop CC with my Wacom Bamboo tablet. In many of my newer pieces I've been developing the illustration in Illustrator, then moving it to Photoshop for color adjustments, painting, textures, etc. I also like more traditional methods such as pen and ink, watercolor pencils and any type of paint. I'm basically a kid in a candy store every time I step into an art supplies store.

What can you tell me about your prints for sale?

I outsource my printing, but personally place each order. I order giclee prints on somerset velvet paper because I'm a stickler for quality. The paper has a slight texture and colors pop beautifully.

What should I do once I receive my art print?

The printer I chose to print my work takes great pride and care in the way they package orders. Single print orders will be shipped rolled around a core, which is wrapped in bubble wrap and shipped inside of a box. Since velvet paper holds shape, I advise to remove print upon arrival and lay on a flat surface using box and core to flatten paper overnight. If you order multiple prints, I thank you. Your prints will most-likely be sent flat and ready for framing.

I want to frame my art. What do you suggest?

Most of my prints are offered as 11x14, 8x10, and 5x7, with some white around the edges. I suggest finding a frame where the matting fits the art size. This frame from pictureframes.com is great for my 11x14 prints. I've also had good luck with arttoframe.com.

Do you take illustration suggestions?

I don’t take suggestions simply because I don’t wish to take anyone else’s ideas. I have a growing list of ideas I’m anxious to get to, but with three small kids at home, it takes time to get to my art. My kids are my priority.

Do you take commissions?

Not at this time. Since I'm recently getting back into creating art, I'm giving myself time to explore my style.

How do you draw copyrighted characters without getting sued?

I do not claim ownership of any characters used in my fan art illustrations or pop culture mash-ups, only the illustration that I have created in the spirit of fandom. In other words, my work falls under Parody/Fair Use.

Can you send me a high-res file so I can print your design myself?

Nope.

Anything else you want to tell us about you?

I have three young kids and have been known to neglect the laundry when I’m focused on an illustration. Do kids need clean soccer shorts for every game?

My comfort food is sushi paired with a nice glass of wine. I enjoy reading, binge-watching shows on Netflix, and watching Star Wars for the hundredth time with my husband and kids. I love most things nerdy thanks to my husband. My husband Bryan, is the Good Nerd Bad Nerd’s podcast and news site guru, and the best partner for me in this journey called life.
